English Language Skills Development

English language skills development in Cornwall

International students and researchers, you can access free advice and guidance on developing your English language skills from our team of English language tutors.

We can help you to understand your academic studies better and learn about cultural differences in both your studies and life in the UK.

We can support you if English is not your first language and you are an undergraduate, postgraduate, or researcher studying at the ¼ø»Æʦapp, Cornwall’s campuses in Penryn and Truro.

We know that how you write and structure work can be different in different countries and cultures, so to help you succeed in your studies here in the UK, we run courses to help you.

During term time, we offer weekly classes on different aspects of the English language, including academic language skills and general English for life as a student.

Our modules are not credit-bearing and do not count towards your degree, but they do help ensure you are not disadvantaged in your studies if English is your second language.

This support is available to you throughout your time with us.

We know that you have worked hard to join our undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, and we want to give you every opportunity we can to progress in your academic studies and enjoy your time here.

Accessing our support is not something our students just do when they find their studies challenging; we can guide you from the start of your studies, so you are in the best place possible to succeed.

We can assist you in developing your English language skills in all areas of your university life. We do this by offering a range of courses, workshops and one-to-one tutorials that can help you.

Our tutors can answer questions, support with academic writing and help explain cultural differences and how things work in the UK, for example, where to find Halal food or how public transport works.

You can ask any questions you may have about language skills, for example, you can get guidance on an assignment or help with referencing. Book here

Our classes can help with studying and researching in another language. No matter how fluent you are, we find that they are helpful for most students.
