Festival of PGR Research events

We are excited to share that the Festival of PGR Research will take place across Streatham and Penryn campuses from Wednesday 6 May until Thursday 4 June 2026.

The Festival of PGR Research is a platform for celebrating the diverse and inspiring research that our postgraduate researchers are conducting at the ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app. This new festival is an opportunity for PGRs to build community, showcase and develop communication, presentation and impact skills and to take part in a variety of competitions, workshops and interactive activities.

  • Reflective Journaling for Researchers

    Many researchers use reflective journals throughout their research journeys, but are given little guidance about what exactly these journals are meant to achieve, or how. In this workshop, we will address this training gap by considering the theory and practice behind different applications of research journaling. In addition to exploring recommendations from the literature, participants will be invited to share their own practices and insights about keeping a journal.

    This one-hour session is designed to answer questions postgraduate research students may have about the nuts and bolts of thesis writing, from coming up with ideas to learning how to structure paragraphs, to punctuation basics, with special attention to the new Writing Brain website, a comprehensive one-stop location designed to help with all academic writing needs.

  • How to Write a Blog Post in 60 Minutes

    In this interactive workshop for postgraduate researchers, you will learn how to structure and write a compelling research blog for a general audience. After 60 minutes of discussion and activities, there will be a 30-minute concentrated writing session. By the end, you will have a brand-new blog entry well underway ¨C and plenty of ideas for where to share it.
