Education for a Positive Future

Transforming education for a changing world.

The future isn’t fixed, neither is our approach to education. At Exeter, our students shape their degree through flexible pathways, build skills that matter and engage with challenges that extend beyond the classroom.

Our approach brings together research, innovation and global perspectives to create an education that prepares students for what comes next.

The world is changing fast...and your education should prepare you for it.

We are evolving our undergraduate education to create flexible, engaging and future-focused learning experiences for all our students.

Our programmes are designed to give you choice and agency in how you learn combined with the skills, confidence and support you need to thrive both at university and beyond. Through research-led teaching, the use of technology, and opportunities to engage beyond the classroom, we support you to explore ideas, apply your knowledge and develop the skills needed for the future.

This approach is supported by initiatives such as our Education Incubator, which enables our academics to develop and test new approaches to teaching and learning such as gamification, ensuring our education continues to evolve in response to new ideas, technologies and student needs.

We believe education should open doors, not define limits. You can shape your degree through flexible options, including Minors: Future Skills Pathways, alongside opportunities to work across disciplines and connect your learning to global challenges.

Future17, the Sustainable Development Goals Challenge Program, co-created in association with QS, brings together students from across all six continents to work alongside global organisations in virtual groups to develop solutions to help meet the UN’s SDGs. Along with a strong focus on developing transferable skills, this programme enables you to broaden perspectives and collaborate with others to address shared global issues.

Our students are active participants in their education. They help shape their learning experience, contribute to how we teach, and develop the confidence to pursue their own ideas and ambitions.

This approach is underpinned by a commitment to inclusion, sustainability and innovation ensuring every student is supported to succeed and prepared for what comes next.

This is not just education. This is an education for a Positive Future.
