About this course:

This activity is for Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers.

This course takes place in person.

Discovering your Leadership Voice is a workshop programme using the 5 Voices framework that will transform how individuals and teams communicate.

This leads to a culture where all personalities and voices are celebrated, with an understanding that we all have gifts and talents that will allow us to lead ourselves and others effectively.

Building self-awareness - who am I really and what do I bring at my best? - coupled with high levels of awareness of those in our teams, is crucial in helping us all to be healthy, happy and effective in the workplace.

If our team culture is strong, we are far better placed to serve the teams we are leading as well as our fellow researchers and the wider university community in the best possible way.

During the course participants will: - Learn about the different characteristics, strengths and weaker tendencies of each of the 5 Voices - Give themselves a rating for each of the 5 Voices - Create an individual 'voice order' (we are not just one voice, but have elements of all 5, some stronger, some less so) - Build stronger relational intelligence within their teams through developing awareness of others and their voice orders, leading to greater understanding and effectiveness.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to: - Build greater self-awareness - Develop greater knowledge and understanding of others in your professional and personal life - Show increased understanding of the strengths and differences of each voice type, leading to increased harmony within teams - See higher levels of effectiveness within teams - Use objective tools and language to create a positive culture - improved sense of belonging, wellbeing, empathy and understanding within teams and the organisation as a whole ? Decrease in turn-over, stress-related absence and illness ? Improve relationships, both professionally and personally ? Experience a greater sense of each individual feeling heard, valued and appreciated for their unique gifts and talents

What previous participants have said about the course:

"We have been participating in the 100X Leader with Steve from Foster Leadership for several weeks.

It has immediately made an impact on both my professional & personal practice.

Steve brings his extensive knowledge of School Leadership to the training and has helped us reflect on our own practices whilst being perceptive in his insights with our present approach to situations.

I have always felt `safe? with discussing scenarios with Steve as he has made the training fun, affirming, and challenging through his care and attention to the participants.

I would recommend anyone who is interested in being an effective leader to spend time with Foster Leadership as they enable you to understand your true potential." Mike King, Releasing Potential ? CEO, Releasing Potential School ? Executive Head Teacher, West Sussex "The 5 Voices has been an extremely positive experience for myself and the team that I lead.

The process of becoming more self aware about my own voice and the voices of those that I work with has unlocked our teams' potential and has helped everyone feel empowered in the workplace.

The way Steve delivers the programmes is relatable, thought-provoking, and creates extremely valuable conversations within the team.

The 5 Voices and 100X Coaching Programmes have bvaluable to our organisation." Amanda Leach, Transition Learning Programme Manager, The Outdoors Group, Exeter "Steve has been an inspiration.

With his gentle, focused, non-threatening and thought-provoking questions, he has challenged me to think about my leadership, rationale and actions.

I loved every session." Jane Holloway, Head, St Andrew's Preparatory School Turi, Kenya "As an experienced leader I was initially unsure how much I would have to learn from the course, or if I would just have a couple of nice days out on the moor.

Within the first half of the first day, I was guided to some very significant insights by Steve and more followed as the course progressed.

His very careful guidance of situation, course material, and environment provided a powerful combination, and I know I will be considering the learning from the intensive course for years to come.

Thanks Steve." Bruce Stockley, Operations Director, Westcountry Rivers Trust
