Professor Alison Truelove joined the Business School on a full-time basis in 2016 after several years of consultancy work, including the design and writing of the assessment material for the UK¡¯s first professionally-accredited MOOC,?Discovering Business and Society (with ACCA on FutureLearn). She has previously held teaching and research positions at the Universities of London and Cambridge, and has taught and published in the areas of historical linguistics, medieval culture and literature, and digital humanities.

As Director of the School's , Alison leads on staff development aligned to enhancing teaching practice, module design and assessment. As the School¡¯s Lead Academic Tutor, she also oversees our students¡¯ transition into higher education, and provides tailored, evidence-based academic development support to encourage all learners to achieve their full potential.

Alison is also Project Director / Principal Investigator of the UKRI/Research England ?5 million project, working in collaboration with the Chartered Association of Business Schools and a range of other universities to offer knowledge, skills and networking opportunities to doctoral and early-career researchers to engage effectively with industry.

Her other research interests focus on identifying and developing effective interventions to support students¡¯ academic achievement, on designing innovative and inclusive modes of online/blended learning, and on developing resources to strengthen students¡¯ critical engagement with their learning. She also works with colleagues across the university and beyond to promote widening participation and interdisciplinarity in higher education. This includes chairing the Success for All Transition and Induction Working Group and associate membership of the university¡¯s ,

Alison is Chair of the ' Learning, Teaching and Student Experience Committee.
